Voodoo Vixen’s Katniss Dress And Callous Crow’s Skull Cardigan

Ah, the most coveted dress in the vintage circles- Voodoo Vixen’s Katnis dress! If anyone can understand it’s appeal, then it’s me. For one, the pattern. It’s kitties! Small black kitties under umbrellas! The colour is incredibly vivid and bold, and the black trim and pattern serves as the perfect counterbalance to it.

I’ve wanted it since the first moment I saw it. The kitties! The scalloped trim! The pockets!
But being unemployed at the time, there was no way for me to justify or be able to afford such an expense, so I would just pine for it every now and then, read reviews (which only served to make me want it more), and wait.

Luckily, I got a job (yay for being trilingual!), Black Friday came, and I got my hands on it. I admit, as with all things I look forward to a lot, I was also a bit scared of being disappointed. Even though the reviews were almost uniformly positive, not everyone is built the same. I worried about nothing (you’re all so surprised now, aren’t you?)

The dress is a very good fit. The sleeves are a little bit snug, but since my day includes a workout routine, trying to control a very determined 30 kg hound on a walk and dancing, I would honestly be seriously surprised if they weren’t. the neckline on this dress can also be only described as plunging, but it does so in such a lovely and charming way, I can’t help but approve of it. And as already mentioned, yes, it has pockets! Beautiful, roomy pockets!

I also got a chance to shoot and review for a new brand called Callous Crow. They sent me some of their cardigans to review and to keep some, as well as some tshirts and ties (but you’ll get to enjoy those in another blog). The first cardi I fell in love with was this Skull Cardigan. It’s a black cotton cardi, with white detailing, and embroidered skulls on the front.

This was one of the cardigans I had to keep for myself, because of one very special detail. The skulls glow in the dark. Wait. Let me repeat that for those who weren’t paying attention: They. Glow. In. The. Dark! How amazingly and delightfully kitschy is that?  I am also very very in love with the stitching itself, as it is so well made! In fact, everything Callous Crow has sent me is well made, with so much attention to detail and so much talent!  If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you already saw some of their other designs, and some sneak previews, and I just can’t wait to show you and tell you all about the rest!

Until next time!
xoxo
