This is part two of my shoot and review for The Seamstress of Bloomsbury.
We shot this at the Nikola Tesla museum in Zagreb, and they were kind enough to give us a free run of the place on a Monday when the museum is closed to the public.Ivy and Taja were kind enough to be set mistresses. Villy V took the photos.
All of you who read my blog regularly (hi!!!!) know that certain things make me happy: shirtwaist dresses, contrast trims and pretty fabrics. This dress has all of that and then some!
I already swooned over the authentic 40’s fabrics in my previous post, and about how beautiful the crepe de chine fabric drapes over the figure and how incredibly flattering it is.
So I am going to swoon over other things in this post. Like, for instance, the double collar with the elegant and striking contrast as the white, lower collar peeks out just a little bit, or the buttonholes with their beautiful white thread, or the contrast piping which all serve to provide a lovely accent to the shirtwaist dress.
I also adore the square jet buttons. I think they are really the perfect addition to give this elegant black dress just that extra touch it needed.
The dress also features a belt sash of the same beautiful material, and the skirt part of the dress itself slides and glides beautifully with you as you move. I honestly didn’t want to take it off when I first tried it on and just sashayed around the house admiring the silky feel. Pairing it with a pair of silk stockings gives you the ultimate glamorous feeling. I really felt like a diva! My grandma never had anything THIS special in her closet 😉
Jazzafinesent me the hat to go with the dress, and as always, it is a beautiful accent. The red band matches my favourite lipstick perfectly, and the houndstooth pattern gives it a lively, yet sophisticated feel
