Bardot inspired

I have a thing about that famous Bardot photo, where she is wild-haired in a striped top. Something about it just speaks of a perfect summer style to me. As I was arranging this editorial style shoot with Rockabilly Pinup, I wanted the styling not to be a perfect copy of that look, but an inspiration. I wanted to bring that summer feeling, and do something more relaxed. I’ll let you be the judge of my success.

Of course, as this is a review blog as well as my personal style one, all the clothing I wore deserve a review! I also owe you all a full disclaimer that I am currently a bit slimmer than I used to be,  mostly due to the fact we’ve taken up hiking, so I am now somewhere between S and XS.
I’ll start off with Banned’s cropped cardigan. It’s super comfortable, as all their cardigans are, and the cherries are stitched, which is a lovely detail I appreciate a lot in all their cardigans. I also like the cropped waist and the cute round buttons. I did, however, notice that this one seems to be running a bit larger, so if you want a snugger fit, I’d size down.

The Rizzo belt is something I’ve been eyeing for a while now, because my closet is sadly lacking in wide belts. It’s been ages since I wore them, and they do seem like such a perfect addition to my vintage wardrobe! I’m glad I chose this belt in both black and dark red. It’s very flattering and well made, and while the size S doesn’t really chinch me a lot, it is very comfortable and provides a lovely accent to my wardrobe, just as I hoped.

The red and black capris are identical in cut, and I’ve been spending a good part of my summer in them. I find a nice pair of stretchy high waist capris the prefect thing to slip into on summer days, or even better, summer nights. And since I wore them last night to go dancing, I can guarantee they are extremely comfortable, not just stylish. They zip at the back, and don’t have any pockets, but then again, that would just ruin the silhouette.

I have already written about the black version of the striped Dolly top, that of the cheeky little peephole, so I won’t repeat myself here, but can add that both tops on top of my favourite summer items list.

That only leaves the bag for last. From the moment I saw it amongst the new arrivals at rockabilly pinup, I fell in love. I mean, it had stripes, it was ROUND, and the swallow applique on it was just too cute! I did, however, wonder about the size a bit, and how much I’ll be able to fit in it, but figured it would make a nice evening purse.

Well, I was wrong. It’s definitely not small, as you can see, and I was surprised at the amount of room inside!  It features two front pouches, just about the right size for a mobile phone, and a back pouch with a zipper on the inside, as well as a zipper compartment on the back of the bag. I usually pick my bag based on my outfit, but ever since the bag arrived, I admit to have been doing it the other way around!

The hair flowers are also from rockabilly pinup, and I’ve been happy to add them to my growing collection which finally even got to see some wear this summer, either in my hair or on my hats!
That’s all from me this week, so until next time!
xoxo
