What’s the best thing to do on a somewhat drizzly day? Go hang out at the nearly empty train station, of course!
I had so many shooting ideas surrounding this dress! It just has a certain vintage military flair that I am very fond of, and at the same time the peplum and the length and cut have something that is just so 60’s, I was spoilt for choice. My first idea was to shoot at one of the old grand 60’s hotels here in town, the ancient, opulent giants all decked out in marble and brass and dark wood, but I feared that I’d get lost in those settings, and finally decided that the perfect venue would be the main railway station.
I always loved the station. I love trains (one of my favourite ways to travel), and I love the promise of new adventures they suggest. I was also lucky the station has a permanent steam train on display and could use it freely as background.
The dress is made of the same scuba-like material as my other Belsira dresses, and just as the other dresses, it is very comfortable, with just the right amount of stretch to be form-fitting without getting stretched out of shape.
I have been meaning to add another peplum dress to my closet, so this one was a very welcome addition, because if there is one thing peplum dresses are, it’s flattering! I really like the colour contrasts on this one, and I was also pleasantly surprised that the buttons are fabric, not metal, as I think metal would be far too heavy a choice for this dress.
Another thing which is a plus for this dress is that it doesn’t crease easily, and as such requires very little care, which is a definite plus. I get to be stylish without having to wake up half an hour early to iron my clothes!
